Pranabesh Ray - Chairperson
PGDPM&IR (XLRI), Fellow (IIM Ahmedabad)

Pranabesh Ray, a senior faculty member at XLRI, did his PGDPM&IR from XLRI Jamshedpur in the year 1977, post which obtained his doctoral degree from IIM Ahmedabad. He had worked with many reputed organizations before moving to academics.

After about a decade of corporate experience, both in the private and public sector, Dr Ray has been teaching at XLRI for more than 27 years. His teaching, consulting and research are in the area of Human Resource Management with special emphasis on Managing Negotiations, Performance Management, Managing Redundancy, Union Management Cooperation and Employment Relations in the service sector. He has published numerous papers in reputed journals.

Prof. Ray has contributed immensely to the growth of the institute & has served in important administrative positions. He is the immediate past Dean (Academics) of the Institute.

M. G. Jomon 
M. Phil (Delhi), Fellow (XLRI – AHRD))

Dr. Jomon has rich experience in corporates and consulting firms. A gold medalist in masters from Loyola, M.Phil from Delhi University and Fellow from XLRI-AHRD has authored five books and over 20 articles. His expertise are in the areas of competency interventions performance management, 360 degree feedback /appraisal, HRDAudit, Induction, Mentoring, Training, Career Planning and Development, Potential appraisal, Succession Planning and Development. His client organisations include both Indian and multinational companies.

B A (Calcutta), PGDBM (XLRI), Ph.D (Wharton)

Joined XLRI in June, 2004. Has an eclectic profile developed over 30 years first as an academician-cum-administrator at XLRI and subsequently as a senior executive at Tata Steel. His earlier stint at the Institute, spanning 10 years, culminated as Dean for a 4-year term. He taught a variety of courses in the Organizational Behaviour, Economics and General Management areas in the postgraduate and executive development programmes. He also conducted a large number of in-company programmes for leading companies. At Tata Steel, he played a pivotal role in designing many of the HR systems and practices for which the company is renowned. He also spearheaded its learning centres for 20 years. He has now returned to XLRI as the “Tata Steel Chair Professor of Organizational Development".

Madhukar Shukla
M.A. (Pshyco) (Lucknow), Ph. D (IIT Kanpur)

Worked with the National Productivity Council and Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad. Was a Visiting Professor at ESADE (Barcelona), Spain during 1993-94. Fields of special interest include Organizational Design, Organizational Change and Development, Learning Organizations and Management of Creativity. Authored two books: “Designing Organizations” and “Competing through Knowledge” and about 30 papers in professional journals. Consultancy with many public and private organizations.

Uday Damodaran
BSc (Phy), Kerala; M.Stat (SQC&OR), Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi; Fellow, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

Uday Damodaran is a professor in Finance Area. His research interest is corporate Finance, Investments Project Appraisal, Financial Market Architecture and Derivatives and Risk Management. He has worked with Tata Consultancy Services, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, Goa Institute of Management and Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode before joining XLRI IN 2005.He teaches courses in corporate Finance, Investments, Project Appraisal, Financial Market Architecture and Derivatives and Risk Management. He has also been involved in educational administration as Placement Coordinator at XIMB and GIM and as Chairman-PGP-at IIMK.

Tamonas Gangopadhyay
M. Stat., Ph.D. (ISI Calcutta)

Tamonas Gangopadhyay is a professor in Production & Operations Management and Information Systems Areas. His fields of special interest include Fractals Database Management. Artificial Intelligence and Quantitative Methods. He has published fifteen papers in International Journals such as Discrete Mathematics, Utilitas Mathamatica, ArsCombinatoria and also in Springer Verlag Lecture Notes series.

S. George, S.J.
B.Com, PGDM (XLRI), Ph.D. (Madras Univ.)

Fr. S George, S.J., currently the Dean Administration of XLRI, Jamshedpur earlier worked in XIMB as a Faculty in OB & HR Area and also was the Dean of Finance for three years. Fr.George has graduated from XLRI and completed his Ph.D .from Madras University in Transformational Leadership and in relation with Organizational Citizenship Behaviour and Organizational Justice. He has been teaching Leadership OB for more than 6 years and conducted many MDP programmes in the area of personality Development, Leadership, Basic Managerial Skills and Team Building. He has published a number of research papers both in national and international jounals.His areas of interests is Group dynamics, Team Building, Personality Development, Institutional Building and Strategic Planning.

Alumni Officer

Padmini Singh

Has done Masters in Personnel Management & B.Com. from Pune University. She had done a project at Tata Steel Limited, Jamshedpur on small group activities. Currently she is working in the Alumni Office at XLRI, Jamshedpur. Earlier she worked as a research Associate and successfully carried out projects for Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt.of India; Jharkhand Education Project Council etc. Before joining XLRI she has worked as co-coordinator of recruitment, training & development activities at Empowered Learning Systems, Pune. Her current research interests include small group activities, overall human resource management system and workplace spirituality. She is an avid reader and has keen interests in Graphology, Painting, and Fashion Designing.

Pranav Mulay

Pranav Mulay, a Business Management student at XLRI, is an IIT Madras alumnus. He has worked with GE Aviation in the aircraft engine design office in Bangalore for 2 years post completing his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras. He has been a state-level badminton player and member of the XLRI badminton team. He interned with Tata Administrative Services and hopes to pursue a career in General Management.


Archit Sehgal

Archit Sehgal is a Human Resource Management student at XLRI. He completed his Computer Science Engineering from Panjab University, Chandigarh and worked for 2 years in the Quantitative Research Analysis department at Grail Research, a research and consulting company. He is a national-level debater and also an Adventure Sports enthusiast. He interned with Star India Pvt. Ltd. in the Sales HR division.


Archit Arora

Archit Arora,a Business Management student at XLRI, is an academically meritorious student, He has led cross functional teams that have delivered notable results to European and Japanese OEMs during his three year stint at Continental Automotives India Pvt Ltd.He was a part of the core competency group for training new recruits across business verticals. Winner of multiple mime competitions, he’s a socially sensitive individual who has also interned with CRY.


Raghuveer Palakurthi

Raghuveer Palakurthi, prior to joining the Business Management program, was a Chemical Engineer who managed operations of offshore assets for BP for three years. Raghuveer is a Forrest trekker, exploring the Western Ghats and summited its highest peaks. He interned in Marketing Strategy at Microland this Summer.


Keshav Periwal

Keshav Periwal, a Human Resource Management student at XLRI, has pursued Instrumentation & Control Engineering from NIT Jalandhar and worked for about a year in HMEL’s Bathinda refinery in Maintenance & Equipment Reliability department. He interned with Vodafone, looking after Millennial attraction, engagement and retention in Punjab & HP circles.


Niharika Misra

Niharika Misra, a Business Management student at XLRI, is an IT engineer from Manipal Institute of Technology. Prior to XLRI she worked with IBM India as an SAP Consultant for almost three years. She is an avid traveler and enjoys swimming. Niharika interned with GSK-CH on Horlicks and wishes to kick-start her career within the FMCG sector.


Sreejesh Kumar

Sreejesh Kumar, a Business Management student at XLRI, is an NIT Warangal alumnus. He has worked with Qualcomm in Hyderabad for 2 years post completing his undergraduate studies in Computer Science & Engineering from NIT Warangal. During his stint at Qualcomm, he was awarded three CEO & EVP Hall of Fame Awards for his contribution towards company’s success. He interned with Microsoft IDC and wishes to pursue a career in the Marketing or Technology Domain.


Anshul Aggarwal

Anshul Aggarwal, a General Management student at XLRI, has completed his engineering from PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh.He has worked across multiple areas including marketing, project management and customer relationship management while leading diverse teams in Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. He is a national level badminton player and a sports enthusiast. His areas of interests include travelling and listening to music.


Gopal Gopesh

Gopal Gopesh is a General Management student at XLRI. A BIT Mesra alumnus, he carries rich experience of 7 years in Supply Chain Management. He has worked with TATA HITACHI post his undergraduate. He is an avid traveler and has also participated in TATA Steel Adventure Foundation expeditions. He takes deep interest in current affairs especially Indian politics. He would like to pursue career as a consultant.


Kushagra Mathur

Kushagra Mathur is a student of PGDM (General Management) of 2016-17 batch. He has over 7 years of rich experience in Software Development & Testing. His areas of interest are Social & Rural Development, Indian Railways and Cricket. He likes to sing, listen to music, volunteer for social cause and writing occasionally. He enjoys interacting and building relations.


Sudhir Kamath

Sudhir Kamath is a General Management student at XLRI and has worked with TCS for over 5 years. He has in-depth knowledge in the area of Integration and Retail Domain backed by an International Work Experience. A keen reader and an occasional writer Sudhir has an ear for music and can speak 5 languages.


Sunil Kumar Kesarwani

Sunil Kumar Kesarwani is a student of PGDM-GM of 2016-17 batch. An IIT (ISM) Dhanbad alumnus, he comes with an experience of over 8 years. He has worked with TATA Steel in several capacities in operations excellence, strategic business development and project management. He was also a part of Digital Value Acceleration Team of TATA Steel which enforces digital innovation in manufacturing sector. He is an avid traveler and also has been part of the Mt. Everest base camp expedition. He is excited to be part of Alumni committee and loves to interact with XLRI alumni.


Akanksha Sharma

Akanksha Sharma is a Human Resource Management student at XLRI. She completed her Electronics and Communication Engineering from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi and has a rich experience of 2 years in Telecom/IT sector with Aricent Technologies. She is an avid reader and loves to travel. She has also successfully completed a one year course in Zumba. Post her MBA from XLRI she wishes to pursue her career in the FMCG sector.


Nikhil Sancheti

Nikhil Sancheti, a Business Management student at XLRI, is an NIT Durgapur alumnus. He has worked with Indian Oil Corporation limited in the Projects department in Gujarat for 3 years post completing his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering. As Team Lead at Indian Oil, Nikhil managed activities worth 89 crores over 200 Kms. The only merit scholarship holder at NIT Durgapur, he also served as the Management Head of the college Fest, Recstacy.


Neerav Tipnis

Neerav Tipnis, a Business Management student at XLRI, is a former state level badminton champion and passionate sportsperson. He was the Co-Category head of Sponsorship in the organizing committee of Revels, the cultural fest of MIT, Manipal where he completed his engineering in Electronics & Communication. Post this, he worked at Reliance Jio Infocomm for about 3 years in the Network Operations Centre where he was awarded a fast track promotion owing to his leadership and organizational skills.


Kriti Tuteja

Kriti Tuteja, a Business Management student at XLRI, has completed her engineering from Delhi College of Engineering. She has worked across multiple areas including sales and customer relationship management in Petrochemical Marketing at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. for about three years. She is an avid reader and enjoys playing sports such as throwball and badminton.



Uday had led the service delivery for Cisco Advanced Services Network Optimization Portfolio. An ideator at heart, he has led multiple global initiatives and has won Cisco Outstanding performer award. He is an exceptional academic performer and holder of prestigious scholarships like N.T.S.E. Uday, has also published some of the very popular android applications.


Anagh Agarwal

Anagh Agarwal, a Human Resource Management student at XLRI, is an institute ranker from St. Xavier's Kolkata. He has worked for 2 years in the Strategic Payment Unit of Axis Bank as a part of its Leadership Program. During his college, he was in AIESEC and led the initiative of 'Global Youth Forum' as its President. Anagh, a novelty seeker by nature, plans to take up versatile roles in his career.


Akshay Verandani

Akshay Verandani, a Human Resources Management student at XLRI, is a gold medalist from NIT Goa. Apart from being a consistent academic performer, he has been the president of toastmasters, organizer of techfest at NIT Goa and sports and cultural fest at XLRI, part of the NIT Goa athletics, basketball and tennis teams and the XLRI dramatics team. He has also coauthored an international research paper. Akshay is also passionate about inline skating and sketching.
